Dalibor David
- 1972, CZ
A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1990-97, Painting I studio, under Professor Jiří Sopko), Dalibor David is one of the prominent colorists in contemporary Czech painting. He typically reduces his subjects, often human figures and mundane objects, to their most essential relationship, which could be defined as "figure and place". The figure, through its movement, immerses itself in the matrix of spacetime, becoming an integral part of it, or alternatively, it remains isolated from reality, as if in front of an imaginary curtain. For the artist, the act of painting is a movement of time-lapse traces in the search for the final shape and color constellation.
