Pavel Šmíd

Pavel Šmíd is a graduate from the atelier of prof. Sopko at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He is a co-founder of the group Přirození. Until 1990 he was based in Ostrava where he was part of the local unofficial art scene and worked exclusively in graphics. The scene and his sense of colour manifested even in his later work. He is also known for his love of detail and serious topics which often transcend into irony. Apart from painting he also worked in theatre and scenography. One of his works in this field was the scenery for the opera The Cunning Little Vixen at the National Theatre in Prague.
